What Yaegan says
Yaegan joined us in the Summer of 2018 in a newly created role for YST. The focus of Yaegan’s role is to engage members of the BAME community with sport, via a cricket coaching programme. Another key element of Yaegan’s role is around gathering youth insight on a number of different topics. Yaegan is currently working on the eSport project, travelling around the UK conducting focus groups with young people on eSport, physical activity, sport, PE and competition.

In addition to his day job, Yaegan is currently undertaking the Level 3 Community Sport and Health Officer Apprenticeship. Yaegan has quickly established himself as a key member of the YST team, coming runner up in the Rookie of the Year category at the YST staff awards event in December 2018.
What opportunities has YST given you to grow and develop?
I have been trained and mentored by YST staff which has allowed me to grow and develop both personally and professionally. I have attended training workshops which have put me out of my comfort zone and have been very useful for my personal development.
What do you enjoy about working at YST?
The staff here are great, and you can have a laugh at work, which is good. I enjoy the big events YST organises that you can volunteer at, for example The School Games. I also enjoy the staff Active 30 activities and playing sports at lunch times with YST colleagues.
What has been your favourite moment at YST?
Attending the British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards (BEDSAs) through the Breaking Boundaries project I have been supporting and then presenting the Youth Sport Trust Awards to Kare Adenegan with Jason Gardener in front of 500 people.
